Q: Do you offer three way valves?

A: Yes we do.
The A750 brass NPT series and the A850 316SS NPT series.
These valves are actuator ready with an integral ISO mounting pad.

Q: Probably L-pattern, right?

A: No, not just L-port, we offer BOTH L-port AND T-port configurations.

Q: Is your website different?

A: Yes! If you like our new look please let myself, or any us of know!

Q: I noticed a new name on the website. Who is Adam?

A: Adam is a recent addition to our Jomar Customer Service team. He will help replace Sheila, who took another position closer to her home. He has been through extensive training from both myself and Gary Stephens.
Please feel free to ask for Adam the next time you call customer service.

Q: Why can’t I use EPDM seats in a fuel oil application?

A: Over time, the EPDM will absorb some of the petroleum products, and the EPDM seat could swell, making it impossible to close, or open the valve properly. We suggest the use of BUNA-N (NBR) seats, which are not affected by petroleum products.

Q: Is it true that you now offer 2-1/2”, 3” and 4” press fit valves?

A:  YES!  We currently have in stock the Jomar JoPress ball valves in sizes ½” – 4”.  These are designed to be used with the Rigid press tool.  See our specification sheet on this product under out “Products” heading under ball valves.

Q: What is the difference between the Jomar “Gimme the Green Stuff” and “Gimme the White Stuff” thread sealants?

A:  The Green Stuff is an all purpose thread sealant recommended for residential and commercial applications.  The White Stuff is also an all purpose sealant for residential and commercial applications, but it also contains PTFE (Teflon) which allows it to be used in applications with pressure ratings up to 8,000 psig (liquid).  Both are soft-set and non-toxic sealants.

Q: I have been told that you do not offer replacement parts for your two-piece body ball valves, is that true?

A:  Yes.  Two piece ball valves are not designed to be repaired due to the manufacturing process.  The end-piece is not designed to be removed.  It has been threaded at a specific torque and has a permanent thread sealant which prevents the end-piece from being disassembled during installation into the piping system.  If you wish to purchase a valve that can be repaired at a later date, we recommend the use of a three-piece body design such as the Jomar T-SS1000N-4B.

Q: I’m interested in your electric actuators, do you offer actuators with other than 120 Volts?

A:  YES.  We offer actuators in a wide range of volts, from 24V to 460V 3 phase AC (Alternating Current).  We also offer 12VDC and 24VDC.  We are an excellent source for all your actuation needs.  Please call us at (800) 325-5690 for a quote.

Q: In the industry I’ve often heard the terms “Red Brass” and “Yellow Brass”, what is the difference?

A:  “Red Brass” is referencing Bronze.  This term comes from the color of the material due the amount of copper found in this alloy, which is typically 85% and is poured into moulds known as casting. The term “Yellow Brass” is generally speaking of forging brass which only contains approximately 60% copper.

Q: Why are Jomar valves dry assembled without any lubricant?

A: Jomar valves are dry assembled to ensure that there are no silicone based lubricants used in the manufacturing process. Silicone contamination drastically affects any type of paint system, and cannot be tolerated.

Q: Can I automate a valve that is already in the piping system.

A: Yes you can. If it is a Jomar T100 series valve, it is very simple.
Simply remove the handle, and install the Jomar bracket/ coupler assembly and then the actuator.
If it’s another manufacturer’s valve, it will have to have an ISO mounting pad already cast into the valve body, or we can make a custom bracket/ coupler assembly for you.

Q: What if I don’t know the torque of some other manufacturers valve that I already have?

A: If you can tell us the model number, we will be able to determine the valve torque. Just call our technical department. 800-325-5690 and ask for Jim Stewart at Ext. 293.

Q: Do you stock 300# flanged ball valves?

A: We sure do! Call us for pricing and delivery. 800-325-5690.

Q: Who do I call if I need a technical answer?

A: Gary Stephens is our Technical Advisor, he can be reached at 800-325-5690, Ext. 242
Jim Stewart is our Lead Automation Technician, and can probably help you also. Jim is at Ext. 293

Q: I heard that you have towel warmers in stock, do you?

A: Yes we do, in different sizes and finishes, as well as electric and hydronic  models. Please ask your salesman about them, or anyone else in inside sales.

Q: What is an add-a-valve?

A: An Add-A-Valve is a device which can allow you to replace or repair a defective valve, or fix a leak without draining the system. Visit www.jomar.com or contact your salesman for more information.

Q: You have pipe dope?

A: Yes, we have the famous “Green Stuff”, along with five other formulas that will fit all of your applications.

Q: Do you have plastic valves?

A: Well, we have PVC valves.  Jomar offers NPT, Socket, Double Union and  Socket X Union Schedule 80 PVC ball valves, as well a our S-600 series CPVC ball valves.

Q: We are frequently asked if we can automate another manufactures ball or butterfly valves?

A: ABSOLUTELY!!!

Actually, we do it all the time. We would prefer that you send us the valve. Why?
Simple, because we are perfectionists, especially our Head Technician, Jim Stewart!
We always prefer to completely test every package before it leaves Jomar Automation. However, we realize that is not always possible. In that case, all we need are actual dimensional drawings of the valve top works to fabricate a custom bracket and coupler if it is required. We will then bench test the actuator, and assemble the custom bracket before shipping.

Q: Do you really stock butterfly valves all the way up to 24” in the Warren warehouse?

A: Yes we do.

We stock butterfly valves in sizes 2” through 24” here in Warren, Michigan.
Furthermore, we stock gear operators for 2” through 24” butterfly valves here
also, with 10 position lockable lever handles through 8”.

Q: We heard that you were able to deliver a quantity of 3- 48” butterfly valves in less than 8 weeks, is that true?

A: Yes it is true!

Our factory is second to none when it comes to making every effort possible to meet our customers’ requirements.
Call us with all of butterfly valve requirements, even if you think it’s impossible!
Give us a chance to surprise you.

Q: What is this TEA coating you guys are always talking about?

A: TEA finishing is a process of applying ternary alloy electrodeposits with a high degree of stability.
The TEA process replaces classic electrolytic chrome-nickel plating.

Q: What does that mean to me?

A: It means a number of things. It means superior corrosion resistance, along with the elimination of lead leaching from the surface of the brass.
It also solves the age old problem of allergies to nickel, leaching from the surface. The TEA process assures a high degree of control concerning the thickness of the alloy covering all surfaces of the valve, both inside and out.
And it is NSF 61-8 certified!

Q: Do you have oxygen cleaning capabilities?

A: Yes we do!

Along with our complete offering of Medical Gas High Purity valves, we also offer complete oxygen cleaning services. Call us for a quote.

Q: Are Jomar valves silicone free?

A: Yes, all Jomar valves are manufactured free of any silicone contaminants.

Q: Is it true that you can private label ball valve handles?

A: Yes.

All we need from you is camera ready art work and we can supply ball valves with your logo and/or phone number.  There are minimum quantities and set-up charges associated, so please call us for pricing.

Q: Do you have valves that are AGA and/or CGA rated?

A: Yes.

Actually in July of 2002 AGA and CGA combined to become CSA (Canadian Standards Association).  We offer a wide variety of ball valves that are  CSA rated for various applications for both the U.S. and Canada markets.
